Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a big step for the sponsorship of Team India ahead of the Asia Cup. The BCCI has increased the base price for companies sponsoring Team India, so that the board's earnings can exceed Rs 400 crore in the next few years.

BCCI and Dream 11 Contract Ended

The contract between BCCI and Dream 11 has now ended, and the world's most influential cricket board is now looking for a new sponsor. According to reports, Team India may enter the field without any main sponsor in the Asia Cup. However, in the meantime, the BCCI has fixed the match-by-match price for the new sponsor. Now any company will have to pay Rs 3.5 crore for every bilateral series match and Rs 1.5 crore for matches of tournaments like ICC and Asia Cup.

Asia Cup changes match timings; Here’s the new schedule

According to the earlier agreement with Dream 11, the amount was fixed at Rs 3.17 crore for bilateral matches and Rs 1.12 crore for tournament matches. Now BCCI has increased both by about 30 to 40 lakh rupees. The reason for this is that in bilateral matches, the name of the sponsor is on the chest area of the players' jersey, whereas in tournaments like ICC and Asia Cup, it is visible only on the sleeves.

Board Is Looking Sponsorship

According to BCCI, the board is looking for sponsorship for about 130 matches in the next three years. This also includes T20 World Cup 2026 and ODI World Cup 2027. BCCI's earnings from all these matches are expected to be more than Rs 400 crore.

When Will New Sponsor Get?

The bid for the new title sponsor will be placed on September 16, which makes it clear that Team India will take the field without a sponsor in the Asia Cup starting on September 9. BCCI recently invited applications for sponsorship, but gaming, betting, crypto and tobacco companies are clearly banned. Apart from this, sportswear brands, insurance, banking and finance companies also cannot apply to become sponsors.

This new move will not only enable BCCI to increase its earnings but will also boost the market value of Team India's sponsorship.
