ICC announces record prize money for Women's World Cup
New Delhi: The ICC has taken a big historic decision for women's cricket. The prize money for the Women's World Cup 2025 has been increased by about 297%. Now the total prize money of this tournament has become $13.88 million i.e. about Rs 122 crore. This decision is being considered an important milestone for women's cricket.
ICC President Jay Shah said that this fourfold increase reflects the progress of women's cricket and is a commitment to give equal opportunities to the players. He says that if women cricketers adopt this game professionally, they will get as much respect as male players.
The winning team will get a prize of $4.48 million (about Rs 40 crore), while the runner-up team will get $2.24 million i.e. about Rs 20 crore. The teams reaching the semi-finals will get around $1.12 million i.e. Rs 10 crore. The team will get an amount of $34,314 (about Rs 30 lakh) for winning every match in the group stage.
The fifth and sixth ranked teams will get Rs 6.16 crore, while the seventh and eighth ranked teams will get Rs 2.5 crore. Every team will be given a minimum amount of Rs 2.5 crore whether it wins the match or not.

The men's 2023 ODI World Cup was worth $10 million (about Rs 88.29 crore). Now this decision for women's cricket is considered a big step towards equality which will increase the popularity of the game and provide better opportunities for the players.
