New Delhi: In a significant development Quinton de Kock has decided to reverse his ODI retirement and has been selected as part of the white-ball squads for the upcoming tour of Pakistan. The 32-year-old has been named in both ODI and T20 squads marking his return to the national team after stepping away from the 50-over format following the 2023 ICC Men's World Cup.

De Kock's decision to come out of retirement adds considerable experience to the Proteas' white-ball lineup. Head coach Shukri Conrad confirmed that discussions with de Kock were positive, leading to his commitment to represent South Africa again in both white-ball formats.

The South African squad for the tour includes three different captains across formats: Aiden Markram will lead the Test side, Matthew Breetzke has been appointed as the ODI captain, and David Miller will captain the T20I team. The tour will commence with a two-match Test series starting on October 12 in Lahore, followed by three T20Is and three ODIs.

Notably, regular Test captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the tour due to a calf strain, providing an opportunity for Markram to lead the team in the longer format.

The upcoming series against Pakistan is set to be a crucial phase for South Africa as they continue to build towards the 2027 World Cup, with de Kock's return adding a significant boost to their preparations.
