New Delhi: India's boxing campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 received a major boost after Jadumani Singh Mandengbam delivered a commanding performance in the men's 55 kg category. The Indian Army athlete defeated Pakistan's Sumama Rehman with a 5-0 unanimous decision victory to enter the quarterfinals.
With impressive footwork, quick combinations and strong defensive skills, Jadumani controlled the contest from the opening round and left all five judges convinced of his superiority.

Jadumani maintained pressure throughout the three-round bout, preventing his opponent from finding a rhythm. Three judges awarded him a 30-27 score, while the remaining two scored the contest 29-28 in his favour.
The victory marked his second consecutive clean-sweep win at the Glasgow edition of the Commonwealth Games, strengthening his position as one of India's medal hopes in the boxing competition.
Born in Manipur, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam has emerged as one of India's most promising young boxers. Competing in the men's 55 kg division, he is known for his speed, technical skills and aggressive style inside the ring.
His journey from the northeastern state to the international boxing stage reflects his dedication, discipline and years of hard work.
Jadumani has already achieved significant success in his career. He won the 2026 Senior National Boxing Championship and was also named the tournament's Best Boxer.

After defeating Pakistan's Sumama Rehman, Jadumani advanced to the quarterfinals scheduled for July 28. He will compete for a place in the semifinals against the winner of the match between South Africa and Zambia.
With his calm approach, technical ability and recent performances, Jadumani Singh has become one of the Indian athletes to watch as the Commonwealth Games boxing competition enters its decisive stage.
