New Delhi: The central government has effected a major reshuffle in the central bureaucracy late on Friday evening. As many as 16 officers from various services have been appointed as Joint Secretaries or equivalent posts in various departments.

The Centre on Friday appointed senior bureaucrat Praveen Bonigala as joint secretary in the intelligence-sharing network NATGRID, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Bonigala, a 1995 batch officer of Rajasthan cadre of Indian Forest Service, has been appointed for a tenure of five years.

NATGRID is a counter terrorism measure that collects and collates a host of information from government databases including tax and bank account details, credit/debit card transactions, visa and immigration records and itineraries of rail and air travel.  

Ashish Goyal, a 1996 batch officer of the Indian Information Service, has been appointed as Additional Director General, National Museum, Ministry of Culture.
