Daughter-in-law of ex-UP min commits suicide

According to the police, the wife of Sachin, who is the younger son of Baleshwer Tyagi, a former minister in the Kalyan Singh government, took the extreme step at her two-storey home in the Nehru Nagar colony, when she was alone in her room.

Ghaziabad: The 40-year-old daughter-in-law of a former Uttar Pradesh minister today committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her room here, police said.

City Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said Sunita, the wife of Sachin, who is the younger son of Baleshwer Tyagi, a former minister in the Kalyan Singh government, took the extreme step at her two-storey home in the Nehru Nagar colony, when she was alone in her room.

Ex-minster's wife Raj Kumari was alone on the ground floor, while Babita, the wife of their eldest son Ashutosh, was in her room on the first floor.

Sunita was being treated for depression in a Delhi-based hospital for the last four years, the police said.

Around 2.45 pm, Ashutosh's 18-year-old son Akash reached home and found her body hanging. He immediately raised an alarm and the family members brought the body down and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead, the officer said.

The body was sent for post-mortem and forensic experts were called in to secure finger prints, the officer added.
