Kottayam/ 11 June 2016. Veteran actor Priyanka Chopra’s grandmother Mrs. Madhu Jyotsna Akhouri reportedly passed away on June 3.
Her last wish was to be buried at the cemetery of her home parish Aattamangalam Church in her ancestral village Kumarakom.
Unfulfilled wish
But it remained unfulfilled as the Church, where she was baptized, did not allow her burial there as she had married a Hindu and thus lost all touch to the parish culture.
Last rites
She was then buried at the cemetery of another parish at Ponkunnam, about 30 miles from her ancestral village.
The actor called it “awful” and said her grandmother was an active social worker and always helped the needy.
