New Delhi: Congress leader and Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday said he had no regrets on the denial of the Lok Sabha ticket from Chandigarh to his wife Navjot Kaur but added that contesting from Bhatinda was not possible as she would fight from a place where she could do justice.

Addressing mediapersons at the AICC headquarters, Sidhu said,'My wife had applied from Chandigarh. She was not given a ticket. We are party's loyal soldiers. If there is a denial over ticket, that means nothing to us. We tried to make an MP from there.'

On the offer to her to contest from Bhatinda, Sidhu said,'I am happy that what we got we got it without asking. So there is no regret whatsoever. But my wife will only fight from a place from where she can do justice. Our home is in Amritsar, I live in Chandigarh also but if someone will say to fight from Bhatinda or any other place, that won't be possible.'

'Fighting an election is easy but doing justice? That is why we won seven elections. my father won two, and we won five elections. That is the trust of the people,' he said.

Meanwhile, in an apparent jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party over the status of alliance with the grand old party in Delhi, Sidhu said, 'one should not forget that he is just a pawn in the game of chess.'(UNI)
