Youths are credible ambassadors for future Indo-Russian collaborations

New Delhi: International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs and BRICS International Forum jointly held a press conference in the capital on Wednesday after the inauguration of three-day program ‘Vision for Future’ organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (Eurasia Division) and the International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs. The event is dedicated to the 70th year of diplomatic relations between India and Russia and Press Interaction, held at the Conference Hall of the Information Department of the Russian Embassy was co-hosted by International Russian News Agency MIA ‘Rossiya Segodnya’.

 

Purnima Anand, president of the BRICS International Forum introduced the speakers and informed the media about the objectives of the Youth Parliament which is to strengthen and carry forward the agenda of special and privileged strategic partnership between BRICS nations and especially between India and Russia.

Addressing the media, Gregory V Petushkov, chairperson of the Association of Non-Governmental Organisations ‘National Youth Council of Russia’ said that the future of relations between India and Russia lies with the youths and we are in India to call upon young people to partner, collaborate and work along for a sustainable world.

“In Russia, we have a concept of SDG youth Ambassadors and we are looking at getting more such sustainable youth ambassadors from India,” said Petushkov, who is also the chairperson of the National Preparatory Committee of the World Festival of Youth and Students.

The press conference was also addressed by a senator of the upper House of Russian Parliament Tatyana Romanovna Lebedeva who stressed the need to break stereotypes and work towards building bridges through dialogue and collaboration. Lebedeva is an Olympic gold medalist and said that she was looking forward to sports collaborations between India and Russia.

 

Olga Dycheva, Head of the Information Department of the Russian Embassy said, "Young people from the BRICS countries are building bricks for the creation of better future of these countries and hence they should be encouraged for the better tomorrow of the world."

Addressing the press meet, president of the Russian Centre for Promotion of International Initiatives Roman Chukov said that youth organizations from India and Russia are looking ahead to start short-term courses in Indian and Russian universities for better coordination and exchange of ideas.

Samantha, Mohammed Ismail from South Africa and Alexander and Camila from Brazil represented the youth organizations from their respective countries and stressed upon more meetings to utilize the full potential of young minds of BRICS countries.
