Erode: BJP leader K. Annamalai demands urgent construction of a high-level bridge over the Bhavani River in Erode district's Ammapalayam village, highlighting how 4,000 residents face daily hardships, including life-threatening delays in medical emergencies during floods. He criticizes the DMK government for failing to implement rural infrastructure projects despite central funds, while falsely claiming 100% road connectivity in Tamil Nadu.

About 4,000 people live in Ammapalayam village panchayat near Gopichettipalayam in Erode district. Surrounded by the Bhavani River on both sides, villagers—including school students and daily commuters to nearby cities—must cross the river at Parisal. During floods, Parisal becomes inaccessible, forcing detours of up to 8 km, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Critically, patients requiring emergency medical care often fail to reach hospitals on time, resulting in preventable deaths. For years, Ammapalayam villagers have petitioned the Chief Minister and Anthiyur’s DMK MLA for a high-level bridge over the Bhavani River, yet no action has been taken.

While village roads remain unbuilt across many Tamil Nadu districts, the state government falsely claims 100% road connectivity. The Central Government allocated ₹5,886 crore to Tamil Nadu under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana (launched by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee) until last year. Renaming it as the "Chief Minister’s Rural Roads Scheme," the DMK government has failed to disclose how many roads were actually constructed under this scheme.

The DMK regime, preoccupied with rebranding central schemes and propaganda, has neglected implementation. That rural students in 2025 still rely on buses for school underscores Tamil Nadu’s regression under DMK’s governance. Employing propagandists to praise the government is insufficient—action must follow promises. I urge Chief Minister Shri M.K. Stalin to immediately approve a high-level bridge at Ammapalayam and ensure comprehensive rural road connectivity statewide.
