Elon Musk launches ‘GrokiPedia’
New Delhi: Tesla and X owner Elon Musk's artificial-intelligence company, xAI, has released version 0.1 of an online encyclopedia platform called Grokipedia. According to Musk, this platform is an alternative to Wikipedia, providing "truth-based information," powered by AI, not humans.
He stated on this occasion that version 1.0 will be ten times better than the previous one, but even version 0.1 is, in his opinion, "better than Wikipedia."

The platform currently has approximately 8,85,000 articles available, covering major global topics. The biggest takeaway is articles can't be changed by human editors, only xAI's AI chatbot, Grok, can modify them.
Grok analyzes content from various sources including Wikipedia, as "true," "partially true," "false," or "missing." The AI then rewrites, corrects and adds context to the article.
The platform is completely open-source and free of charge. Musk claims it can be used by "anyone, completely free."
Musk has previously accused Wikipedia of "bias," calling it "Wokipedia," and has described Grokipedia as a counter to that bias. However, the platform has faced criticism since its launch. Some pages have revealed that articles are originally taken from Wikipedia either directly copied or rewritten.

A spokesperson for the Wikimedia Foundation has stated that Wikipedia's strength lies in its transparent policies, volunteer oversight, and continuous improvement and that no AI platform can immediately replace that.

Grokipedia also experienced some technical issues in its launch—it was down due to high traffic.
You can log in with your X account (formerly Twitter) by visiting https://grokipedia.com/. From there, you can start using Grokipedia.
Keep in mind that xAI hasn't yet released an official app for Android or iOS. So, be wary of any fake apps or websites that may try to steal your account information by posing as the GrokiPedia app.
