New Delhi: India has taken another major step in telecommunications technology. IIT Hyderabad has achieved a significant milestone in the field of 6G technology. According to a PTI report, a 6G network could be launched in the country by 2030, and a prototype based on the 7 GHz band has been developed. This could place India among the leading 6G nations in the world.

Highlights of the 6G Prototype

This 6G prototype presented by IIT Hyderabad incorporates cutting-edge technologies. These include:

Massive MIMO antenna array

Collaboration of LEO (Low Earth Orbit) and GEO (Geostationary Orbit) satellite systems. With this technology, 6G networks will be much faster and more reliable than 5G. Whether it's data speed or network coverage—6G could revolutionize every aspect.

6G is not just faster internet but a new era

According to Professor Kiran Kuchi of IIT Hyderabad, 6G is not just an advanced version of 5G. This technology will provide superfast connectivity from cities to villages, seas to skies. It will be AI-based, making it highly suitable for cutting-edge services like smart devices, automated vehicles, AR/VR, and IoT.

Why is 6G important for India?

6G technology can empower India from both a technological and economic perspective. Its use will increase productivity in agriculture, factories, and healthcare. Enable better connectivity and data processing in sectors like education, defense, and disaster management. Increase access to digital services in rural and backward areas.

6G network possible by 2030

Each generation of mobile networks evolves approximately every decade. The 5G process began in 2010 and is expected to be rolled out in India in 2022. 6G research began in 2021, and international standards are expected to be established by 2029. If all plans go smoothly, 6G services could be launched in India by 2030.
