However, the authorities have only counted three villages as fully affected.

Water Level Near Danger Mark

According to the latest report from the Irrigation Department, the water levels of Ganga and Yamuna are near the danger mark. As per the August 1 report, the Yamuna in Naini was at 83. 81 meters at noon. The danger level is 84. 734 meters. The Ganga at Phaphamau was at 83.48 meters, close to the danger level of 84.734 meters. The Yamuna is rising by 27 cm per hour, and the Ganga by 26 cm per hour.

The Ganga and Yamuna are still two meters below the danger level. But because the water is rising, all eight gates have been closed. The main rivers in the district are the Ganga and Yamuna. There are also other rivers like Tons, Belan, Varuna, Mansauta, Sasurkhaderi, etc. On the banks of these rivers, dams like Bakshi Dam, Beni Dam, Yamuna Dam Number One and Two are built near the city.

Water Pumped Out

The highest level of these dams is 89.50 meters, which is higher than the flood level in 1978. Pumping stations have been built at Bakshi Dam, Mori Gate, Baluaghat, Chachranala, Mumfordganj, and Rajapur to drain water from the lower part of the city. Water is being pumped out from these stations. A pump house was built at Bakshi Dam under a flood protection scheme.

ADM Vineeta Singh said that all the gates have been closed. The water level at Chilla ghat has reached 97. 40 meters. The danger level is 99 meters. All the rivers are still below the danger level. A boat has been arranged to distribute supplies.
