Lucknow: The Gomti Nagar area of this state capital on Thursday witnessed a shocking triple death incident after ICICI Bank officer Divya Mishra, sister of popular YouTuber Pragya Mishra, was allegedly shot dead outside her workplace by her husband Manas. After the alleged murder, Manas reportedly reached his rented house, killed his sister and later died by suicide, leaving the city stunned.

The broad daylight shooting of a bank officer in one of Lucknow’s prominent areas has triggered questions over marital disputes, domestic conflicts, firearm access and the circumstances that led to the tragic chain of events. Lucknow Police has launched a detailed investigation involving forensic teams, CCTV footage analysis and digital evidence examination.

The incident took place near the ICICI Bank branch in Gomti Nagar, one of Lucknow’s high-profile commercial areas. According to preliminary police information, Divya Mishra, who worked as an Assistant Manager at ICICI Bank, had reached her office like any other working day. Around noon, she allegedly received a call after which she came outside the bank premises.

Police suspect that her husband Manas was present near the office area. After a brief conversation between the two, Manas allegedly opened fire at Divya. The sound of gunshots created panic among bank employees and people nearby. Divya suffered serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information, while forensic experts collected evidence from the crime scene. CCTV cameras installed around the bank and nearby roads are being examined to understand the exact sequence of events.

Husband Allegedly Killed Sister After Wife’s Murder

After the shooting outside the ICICI Bank branch, Manas reportedly left the spot and travelled to his rented accommodation near Huseria Crossing in Gomti Nagar. According to the initial investigation, he entered the house and allegedly shot his sister, who was staying with him. After the incident, Manas also died by suicide using a firearm.

The incident resulted in the deaths of three people - Divya Mishra, her husband Manas and his sister. Police officials reached the second crime scene and started a separate investigation. The forensic team examined the location and collected possible evidence related to the shooting.

Divya Mishra Was Sister of YouTuber Pragya Mishra

Divya Mishra’s identity has drawn additional public attention as she was the sister of popular YouTuber Pragya Mishra. Apart from her social media connection, Divya was known professionally as an ICICI Bank officer working at the Gomti Nagar branch. She lived in Lucknow’s Alambagh area. Her death in a daytime shooting near her workplace has shocked colleagues, residents and people following the case online.

The police are investigating multiple possible reasons behind the shocking crime. A reported dispute between Divya Mishra and her husband Manas has emerged as one of the major angles.

Preliminary details suggest that Divya had reportedly filed a divorce petition against Manas around a year ago. Investigators are now examining whether the ongoing marital dispute played any role in the alleged crime.

However, police officials have not confirmed any final motive yet. Statements of family members, witnesses and people connected with the couple are being recorded as part of the investigation.

Manas Worked in SBI

Police sources said Manas was employed with the State Bank of India (SBI). He was reportedly living in a rented house with his sister. Investigators are examining his personal background, employment details, financial records and communication history to understand the events leading up to the tragedy. Police are also checking whether there were any previous disputes, complaints or warning signs before the incident.

Police are also examining an alleged WhatsApp status posted by Manas before his death. Reports suggest that the status contained personal allegations against his wife and mentioned claims related to their relationship. It allegedly referred to his wife, sister and other family members.

Investigators are verifying the authenticity of the WhatsApp status and analysing mobile phone data, call records and other digital evidence to establish the sequence of events. Officials said online posts or messages alone cannot determine the motive unless supported by investigation findings.

CCTV Footage and Forensic Evidence Key to Lucknow Murder Probe

Lucknow Police has formed investigation teams to probe the triple death case from multiple angles. CCTV footage from the ICICI Bank area is being analysed to track the movement of Manas before and after the shooting. Police are also examining footage from routes leading towards the rented accommodation.

Forensic experts are studying both crime scenes, including the bank premises and the residence, to collect evidence related to the firearm and timing of the deaths. Witness statements from bank employees, local residents and people known to the family are also being recorded.

The incident has created fear among residents of Gomti Nagar, considered one of Lucknow’s most developed areas. The case has brought renewed attention to issues such as domestic disputes turning violent, relationship conflicts, emotional distress and access to firearms.

Experts believe early intervention, counselling support and stronger mechanisms to identify serious personal conflicts can help prevent such tragedies. Lucknow Police is continuing its investigation to uncover the exact reason behind the triple death incident.
