Bollywood films ‘Ek Chatur Naar’ and ‘Love in Vietnam’ released on the same day are disappointing the audience due to weak opening.
'Mirai' opens with Rs 12 crore on day one
Hyderabad: Telugu cinema superstar Teja Sajja's new film 'Mirai' has made a tremendous start at the box office. On the first day of release, it has surpassed the earnings of its predecessor blockbuster 'Hanu-Man'. At the same time, Bollywood films 'Ek Chatur Naar' and 'Love in Vietnam' released on the same day are disappointing the audience due to weak opening.
2024's big hit 'Hanu-Man' had a total net collection of Rs 201.91 crore in the country. Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, this mythological fantasy action-adventure film was well liked by the audience. But 'Mirai' has surpassed 'Hanu-Man's' record of Rs 8.05 crore by earning Rs 12 crore on the first day. This film is directed by Karthik Ghattamneni and it also stars Teja Sajja, Shriya Saran, Manoj Manchu, Jagapathi Babu and Jayaram in lead roles.

The total budget of 'Mirai' is said to be around Rs 50 crore. The Telugu version has earned Rs 10.60 crore while the Hindi version has collected Rs 1.25 crore. Apart from this, business of Rs 5 lakh each has been done in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages. These figures raise the hope of the film earning big on the weekend. In terms of first day earnings, 'Mirai' has also surpassed the recent 'Thandel' (11.50 crores).
On the other hand, Divya Khosla and Neil Nitin Mukesh's film 'Ek Chatur Naar' did a business of only Rs 50 lakh on the first day. Made on a budget of Rs 25 crore, this thriller comedy has opened with low expectations, although there are chances of improvement over the weekend.
'Love in Vietnam', a romantic film starring Avneet Kaur and Shantanu Maheshwari, was a huge disappointment. With just Rs 6 lakh, the film fell way short of its Rs 35 lakh budget. Directed by Rahat Shah Kazmi, the film flopped at the box office in its very first outing.
Teja Sajja's 'Mirai' opened with a bang at the box office, proving that mythological and fantasy action-adventure films are still in demand. On the other hand, the weak opening of 'Ek Chatur Naar' and 'Love in Vietnam' shows that the audience was not impressed by these films this time. The collections of these films will be monitored in the coming weekend.
