In Garda Tola of Jugail village panchayat of Chopan development block in Sonbhadra district of UP, the villagers are still deprived of government schemes and are forced to live in miserable conditions.
Sonbhadra: The village of Garda Tola in Jugail village panchayat of Chopan development block in Sonbhadra district, is facing a lack of electricity, despite the government's promises of smart cities and digital India. Villager Shivnath claims that the village has no electricity since birth and that the government has installed meters without wires and electricity.
The thermal project of Obra from where half of Uttar Pradesh gets electricity is also just 40 km away. Despite this, Garda Tola is in darkness. The education of the children here is at zero level, there is no digital facility, even mobile charging is not possible. The fear of snakes and scorpions is so high that people are afraid to go out of the house at night.
The government had distributed solar lights under solar energy a few years ago, but they too have now become damaged or are in half-finished condition.
The situation raises questions about rural development in Uttar Pradesh and calls for the government and administration to provide basic lighting facilities to the people.
