Ahmedabad: In Ahmedabad, a horrific aircraft accident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, 12 June, in which Air India's Boeing 787 passenger plane crashed. Dreaded pictures of the accident have been revealed, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
In the Meghaninagar area, the strong flames and black smoke were watched from afar. The aircraft had 242 passengers, and all are feared to be killed.
According to preliminary information, the accident happened near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. It is being told that the aircraft crashed near the airport boundary. In the pictures that have come out, it is clear that the aircraft has been completely laminated. Relief and rescue operations are running fast.
Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is also coming to know about riding in the plane. At the same time, CM Bhupendra Patel has left for Ahmedabad from Surat. The statement of Air India has come out on the accident. A spokesperson for Air India said that the Ahmedabad-London Gatwick flight AI171 fell victim to the accident.
According to Air India, the flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Out of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.
According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Air India’s Boeing 787 aircraft, registration VT-ANB, operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. There were 242 people on board, including 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew members.
The flight was commanded by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, with First Officer Clive Kundar as co-pilot. In a photo, the aircraft's wing is seen to have fallen on the ground. Firefly workers are engaged in extinguishing the fire, and so far the fire has been controlled to some extent.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the Home Minister, and the DGP. He took primary information about the plane crash. Amit Shah has assured all possible help, with the NSG team on the spot.
On the other hand, the Aviation Technical Team and DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) have deployed a team of experts for investigation. In the initial investigation, it is also being feared that this accident may have happened due to the negligence of ground control and technical staff or lapse in communication.
People present there and local people say that the plane was making unusual sounds immediately after takeoff, which suggests that the plane was not technically fully fit. If the pilot or technical staff had been alert in time, perhaps this accident could have been avoided.
The accident occurred when the aircraft was taking off from the airport. It is believed that this aircraft was going to London. After the incident, there has been a chaos-tafri in the entire area. The scenes of the accident are so frightening that people were seen running around in fear.
The aircraft is badly demolished, and most of its parts are burnt. The building with which the aircraft collided is also badly damaged. An emergency has been declared at Civil Hospital, located near the airport. The holidays of all doctors have been canceled so that the injured can get immediate treatment.
At present, the investigation is going on, and the administration is waiting for the confirmation of the cause of the accident.
