The Yamaha WR155 R, a lightweight and powerful dual-sport bike, is expected to launch in India on November 11, 2025. With off-road capability and city comfort, it could rival Hero Xpulse 200 and Kawasaki KLX 230.
Yamaha WR155 R: A Powerful Dual-Sport Bike Launching Soon
New Delhi: Yamaha Motor India is preparing to launch its much-anticipated dual-sport bike, the WR155 R, in India. The bike was recently spotted without any camouflage on the streets of Bengaluru, further fueling speculation of an imminent launch.
Spy shots of it surfaced with a convoy, suggesting the bike may be part of a promotional shoot.
Design and Off-Roading Capability
The Yamaha WR155 R is already quite popular in countries like Indonesia and Thailand and is now making its way to the Indian market. Its design is completely sporty and adventure-oriented.
It features a semi-double-cradle frame, high ground clearance (245 mm), and a seat height of 880 mm, making it suitable for off-roading. However, its seat height may be a bit challenging for new or shorter riders.
The bike features 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels shod with knobby dual-purpose tires, giving it the look and feel of a true off-road bike. Telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock rear suspension ensure stability even on rough terrain.
Engine and Performance
The bike is powered by the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine that powers Yamaha's R15, MT-15, and XSR155. This engine features VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology, which provides a better balance between power and fuel efficiency.
According to the international variant, this engine produces approximately 16.7 PS of power and 14.3 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, the bike is suitable for both city and highway use.
Yamaha WR155 R to Launch in India
The bike weighs approximately 134 kg, making it lightweight and easy to handle. It also features a fuel injection system, which helps save fuel.
Features and Size
The Yamaha WR155R features a fully digital instrument cluster, electric start, and an 8.1-liter fuel tank. Its length is 2,145 mm, width is 840 mm, and height is 1,200 mm.
The 1,430 mm wheelbase ensures stability even during long-distance rides. Disc brakes are provided on both wheels, further improving braking performance.
Launch in India and Expected Price
It is expected that the Yamaha WR155 R will be launched at a special event on November 11, 2025. The company may also introduce the XSR155 at the same event.
If Yamaha prices this bike between ₹1.70 lakh and ₹1.90 lakh (ex-showroom), it could give the Hero Xpulse 200 and Kawasaki KLX 230 a run for their money.
The Yamaha WR155R could be a great choice for those who enjoy both city traffic and off-roading. Its lightweight, powerful engine, and adventure-focused design could make it one of India's leading dual-sport bikes.
If you're looking for a bike that's both stylish and performs, consider the WR155 R.
