Assembly Polls: BJP announces election in-charge in Bihar and two other states

Patna: With the Election Commission intensifying its preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, political parties too have accelerated their groundwork. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced key appointments for election management in Bihar and two other states.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been named the in-charge for Bihar elections 2025. Alongside him, Union Minister CR Paatil and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya have been named as co-incharges.

Letter issued by BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh

The appointments were officially announced through a letter issued by BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh on September 25, directing the immediate assumption of responsibilities by the newly appointed office bearers.

With these appointments, the BJP aims to strengthen its organizational strategy and outreach in Bihar ahead of the crucial elections.

West Bengal election incharge

BJP has appointed Union Minister Bhupender Yadav as its election in-charge for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly polls. Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been named as co-incharge.

Tamil Nadu election incharge

The ruling party has also appointed Baijayant Panda as the party's election in-charge for Tamil Nadu, additionally Murlidhar Mohol has been named co-incharge for the Bihar Assembly elections.

When will Bihar election be held?

The Assembly election in Bihar is likely to be held this year, in October of November. However, an official announcement over the date is yet to be made by the Election Commission.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has 131 members in the current 243-member Bihar Assembly, while the BJP has 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, and HAM(S)-4, with two independent candidates backing them.

With RJD leading with 77 MLAs, Congress-19, CPI(ML)-11, CPI(M)-2, and CPI-2, the Mahagathbandhan has 111 members.
