New Delhi: India’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar held a major press conference today on Sunday in order to address recent claims of vote theft made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and issues with the Special Identification Report (SIR) procedure in Bihar.

He completely denied the allegations of vote theft and underlined that the Election Commission does not discriminate against any political party. Without prejudice the Election Commission stands firmly with all voters—poor rich elderly women youth and people of all religions Gyanesh Kumar said.

Every Indian citizen who turns 18 should become a voter and cast a ballot in accordance with the Constitution of India he declared. He went on to say that because the Election Commission has registered all political parties it is unable to discriminate against them.

He promised that the Election Commission would not compromise on its constitutional obligation and that all people were treated equally. According to Kumar 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have prepared a draft list for the SIR process in Bihar in collaboration with voters booth-level officials and political parties.

Every voter political party and booth official is openly checking the lists signing paperwork and even filming video testimonies at the grassroots level.

According to Kumar this demonstrates the Commissions dedication to an impartial and open electoral process. On the other hand he voiced his worries about efforts to confuse voters. He claims that some district party leaders and their designated BLAs have disseminated false information by ignoring ground realities or failing to provide their higher-level leaders with verified documents and testimonies.

The truth is that everyone is putting forth a lot of effort step by step to ensure that Bihars SIR process is completed successfully according to Kumar. With more than 7 crore voters supporting the Election Commission neither the Commission nor the electorate are in doubt.

He added that more than 28370 voters have filed claims and objections to the draft lists demonstrating that citizens are actively working to ensure the election process is fair and accurate. The Election Commission is still dedicated to holding free fair and transparent elections throughout the nation.
