Cabinet approves key appointments in Vice-President office
New Delhi: Amit Khare, retired IAS officer (Jharkhand: 1985 batch), has been appointed as Secretary to the Vice President of India. Chandrasekar S, IAS officer (Kerala: 2014 batch), has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Vice President. These appointments have been made with the aim of strengthening the efficiency and administrative system of the Office of the Vice-President.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of retired IAS officer Amit Khare as Vice Presidential Secretary.
Amit Khare, a 1985 batch officer of Jharkhand cadre, will assume charge in the rank and pay scale of Secretary.
According to the Department of Personnel and Training order issued on September 14, Khare’s appointment will be on a contract basis for a tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The appointment will be governed by the usual terms and conditions applicable to re-employed central government officers.
Khare has a distinguished career in public service, having served as Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and later as Education Secretary. After his retirement from the civil service, he was appointed Adviser to the Prime Minister, where he handled matters related to the social sector in the Prime Minister’s Office.
The government order notifying his appointment has been circulated to senior officials, including the Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Secretary to the President, and other constitutional and administrative authorities.
Chandrasekar S, an IAS officer of the 2014 batch from the Kerala cadre, holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Anna Univ. College of Engg Guindy and an MBA in Finance from Bharathidasan University. He currently serves as Deputy Director. Proficient in English, Tamil, and Malayalam, Chandrasekar S was born on 07 March 1983.
