New Delhi: On September 12, 2025, CP Radhakrishnan took oath as vice president. The ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Draupadi Murmu administered him the oath of office and secrecy.
It is noteworthy that former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned on 22 July, after which elections were held on 9 September and Radhakrishnan was declared the winner.
Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also attended the swearing-in ceremony. After his resignation, he was not seen in any public event, about which the opposition was constantly raising questions. His presence now seems to put an end to these questions. Dhankhar was seen sitting with former President Venkaiah Naidu on this occasion, which indicated that he is healthy and active.

Radhakrishnan has previously been the governor of Maharashtra and also the Tamil Nadu state president of the BJP. His long-term political experience will now strengthen his role as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
