The swearing-in will be held in a formal ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
67-year-old Radhakrishnan won the Vice Presidential election held on Tuesday by defeating joint opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy by a margin of 152 votes.
Out of 788 members, 767 voted in the election. Radhakrishnan got 452 votes, more than expected. While Sudarshan Reddy got only 300 votes. Radhakrishnan won the election by a huge margin.
After this victory, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met CP Radhakrishnan and congratulated him on becoming the Vice President. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met the newly elected Vice President Radhakrishnan. This meeting took place at the residence of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi.
Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also congratulated Radhakrishnan in a public statement for the first time after stepping down from his tenure. He wrote in his letter that this achievement of the new Vice President reflects the trust of the country's representatives. Dhankhar also said that Radhakrishnan's experience of public life will give more dignity to the post of Vice President.
This election was held after the sudden resignation of the then Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on 21 July.
The election was held 50 days later and the NDA won. The voting figures make it clear that some MPs in the opposition also cross-voted, which gave Radhakrishnan a big victory.
