CBI Arrests Sub-Registrar, Private Person for Accepting Bribe Red-Handed

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Nand Kishore Meena, who is the Sub-Registrar, Punjabi Bagh, Nangloi, Delhi, and a Private Person, Subhash Gandhi, in a bribery case.

The CBI has registered the instant case on  17.07.2026 against the said accused based on a complaint alleging that the accused Sub-Registrar demanded a bribe of Rs. One Lakh from the complainant for executing a gift deed of the property.

The CBI laid a trap on 17th July 2026 and caught both the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from the complainant. Both the accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.

What's Next Could Happen?

This case has two accused with different profiles: Meena, who is a government servant, will be punished under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, which results in imprisonment of 3 to 7 years with a fine depending upon conduct. While Gandhi is a private person, the punishment depends on the offence charged. However, the investigation is still underway, and the final decision will be taken by the court.
