Lucknow: A tearful and emotional adieu was given today to former IPS officer and retired DIG of Bihar, Ram Yash Singh, as he was cremated here on Tuesday.
Ram Yash Singh, father of Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law & Order) and STF Chief Amitabh Yash, passed away on Monday at the age of 83 after dedicating his life to policing and social service.
Ram Yash Singh passed away yesterday afternoon after suffering a heart attack. He lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The mortal remains were kept at his Lucknow residence and a large number of people from various walks of life, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, paid their last respects to the departed soul.
His body was carried in a funeral procession this morning from his residence to the Baikunth Dham cremation ground at Bhaisa Kund.
His sons, including Amitabh Yash, shouldered the bier, creating an emotional moment for those present. Upon reaching the cremation ground, the atmosphere grew more somber, with many in tears.
Amitabh Yash and his three brothers performed the last rites and lit the funeral pyre, bidding a final farewell to their father.
Several senior officials, political leaders, and dignitaries also attended the cremation.
Among those present were Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad; DGP Rajeev Krishna; Minister Daya Shankar Singh; Minister of State Dinesh Pratap Singh; along with journalists and other prominent personalities.
Editor-in-Chief of Dynamite News, Manoj Tibrewal Aakash, also paid tribute and shouldered the bier. Ram Yash Singh was a member of the advisory board of Dynamite News.
Yogi Adityanath visited the residence on Monday evening to pay his respects to the departed soul.

He was a 1985-batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre and a highly respected figure in both police and legal circles. He completed his BSc from Jain College, Arrah, and went on to serve in challenging districts such as West Champaran, East Champaran, and Jehanabad as SSP.
Known for his strict discipline and integrity, he played a crucial role in strengthening law and order and controlling crime during his tenure. He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry for his exceptional courage and bravery.
After retirement, Ram Yash Singh continued to serve society as a senior advocate at the Patna High Court, contributing significantly to the justice system.
Remembered as a symbol of discipline, courage, and dedication, Ram Yash Singh leaves behind a lasting legacy. His contributions to policing, law, and public service will inspire future generations. His demise has left the police and administrative circles in deep mourning.
