Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police department has witnessed a major administrative shake-up with the transfer of 35 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state. The reshuffle has impacted several important districts, police commissionerates and specialised law enforcement units.
The latest UP Police transfer order includes officers from multiple batches, including 2014 to 2022 cadre officials. Senior officers holding positions such as Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Assistant Commissioner-level posts have been assigned new responsibilities.
The large-scale reshuffle has brought changes in major urban policing centres including Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, while several officers have also been moved to specialised wings such as cyber crime, intelligence, CID, STF and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).
The latest IPS transfer order marks a significant restructuring exercise within the Uttar Pradesh Police administration. Charu Nigam, who was serving as Superintendent of Police, UP-112, has been transferred and appointed as Commandant of the 47th Battalion PAC, Ghaziabad.
Shravan Kumar Singh has been shifted from Kanpur Nagar Police Commissionerate and assigned a new responsibility in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Pramod Kumar, who was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Agra Police Commissionerate, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, Cyber Headquarters, Lucknow.
Ravi Shankar Nigam has also received a new posting and has been appointed as Commandant of the 2nd Battalion Special Security Force (SSF).
Several important appointments have been announced in major police commissionerates. Atul Sharma has been moved to the Intelligence Headquarters, Lucknow, where he will take charge as Superintendent of Police.
Ravindra Kumar has been transferred to Agra Police Commissionerate as Deputy Commissioner of Police, while Sonam Kumar has been assigned responsibility in Prayagraj Police Commissionerate.
The reshuffle has also brought fresh changes in Kanpur Nagar Police Commissionerate, one of the state’s busiest urban policing zones.
Officers handling crime control, law and order management and urban policing operations have received new assignments as part of the administrative restructuring.
Kanpur Nagar has emerged as one of the key focus areas in the latest UP IPS transfer order.
Several officers have been assigned new roles in the commissionerate system, which handles complex challenges including organised crime, traffic management, cyber offences and public safety.
Shubhi Sudhakar, earlier posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police in Kanpur Nagar, has been promoted and assigned the responsibility of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police in the same commissionerate.
Monika Jaiswal, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Atul Kumar, Gaurav Kumar and Vivek Kumar have also received new assignments connected with Kanpur Police Commissionerate.
The changes are expected to bring fresh leadership and operational strategies to the city’s policing framework.
The latest reshuffle is not limited to district-level postings. Several IPS officers have been shifted to specialised police organisations.
The Cyber Headquarters in Lucknow, Intelligence Department, Crime Investigation Department (CID), Special Task Force (STF) and PAC have also witnessed changes.
