New Delhi: Amazon revealed a far reaching strategy to integrate artificial intelligence across India’s digital ecosystem, announcing plans to equip more than 15 lakh small businesses with advanced AI tools while simultaneously bringing AI literacy to 40 lakh government school students by 2030. The announcement marks one of the company’s most ambitious technology interventions in India to date, reinforcing its long term commitment to the country’s booming digital and e commerce landscape.

Samir Kumar, Country Manager for Amazon India, said the company is building AI infrastructure and tools on a nationwide scale to support entrepreneurs, students, and public sector institutions. Amazon added that it remains on track to complete its 12.7 billion dollar cloud and AI infrastructure investment announced in May 2023 by the end of the decade.

AI Learning To Enter Government Schools

As part of its education initiative, Amazon will introduce a comprehensive AI curriculum in government schools across India. Students will be given access to hands on experiments, interactive projects, virtual career tours, and teacher guided AI modules designed to demystify new technologies.

The company also plans dedicated training sessions for school teachers to ensure they can understand and effectively teach AI concepts in classrooms. The goal is to equip students from diverse backgrounds with technical exposure that prepares them for future careers in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

Building India’s AI Ready Workforce

According to the company, Amazon Web Services has already trained over 6.2 million individuals in India in cloud related skills since 2017. Through programs such as AWS Skill Builder, AWS Educate, AWS re Start, and new AI focused courses, the company said it is committed to creating a strong foundation for an AI ready workforce capable of taking on global opportunities.

The latest expansion further broadens the scope of skilling by targeting younger students and small businesses that traditionally have limited access to cutting edge technology.

AI Tools To Empower Small Businesses

Amazon is also rolling out a suite of AI powered tools aimed at simplifying online selling and enabling small scale entrepreneurs to operate with enterprise level efficiency. The company said the goal is to remove barriers, automate repetitive work, and allow sellers to focus on business strategy and innovation.

Among the new offerings is a generative AI driven expert called Seller Assistant that provides instant answers, business guidance, and real time operational support. Amazon is also introducing a redesigned seller central interface with instant task management features and customizable dashboards.

Another key addition includes an AI listings generator that can create polished, market ready product pages in minutes using a short description, a single image, or even a website link.

Creative Tools To Support Digital Branding

For entrepreneurs looking to strengthen their digital advertising, Amazon will provide access to a Creative Studio where sellers can conceptualize and produce promotional content within minutes. The company is also launching a video generator platform that helps businesses create professional quality video ads at no additional cost, making high quality marketing more accessible.
