New Delhi: A CBI court sentenced life imprisonment to two accused in the Ankit Chauhan murder case today.
The accused Shashank Jadon and Manoj Kumar have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Additionally, Shashank Jadon has been fined Rs 70,000, while Manoj Kumar has been fined Rs 50,000 in connection with the case.
The judgment marks a crucial step in delivering justice.
The case pertains to the murder of software engineer Ankit Chauhan in Noida in 2015, who was shot and killed during a carjacking.
The main accused, Shashank Jadon and Manoj Kumar, were arrested in 2017.
Investigation of the murder case was transferred to CBI by the Allahabad High Court and the same was registered by CBI on 14 Jun, 2016.
Chargesheet was filed against the accused persons for the offences of murder, attempted robbery, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence before the Jurisdictional Court at Ghaziabad on 29 August 2017.
Notably, the trial of the case was transferred from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to New Delhi by the Supreme Court on 02 August 2019.
After the trial, the Court convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
