New Delhi: Fresh details have emerged in the investigation against self-proclaimed godman Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who is accused of harassing several women at a Delhi ashram.

The police probe has recovered multiple chats with women from his mobile phone. In these conversations, the 'godman' is seen trying to lure them with false promises. His cell also had multiple photographs of him with air hostesses, along with screenshots of display pictures of women.

2 women aides also confronted

Chaitanyananda Saraswati was also confronted with two of his women aides who according to police, allegedly threatened victims and forced them to delete objectionable messages.

Both aides worked in different roles at the private institute and are now being questioned as part of the police investigation.

The self-proclaimed spiritual guru, and former chairman of the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management Research in Vasant Kunj, had multiple FIRs against him under charges of molestation, cheating, and forgery.

Self-styled godman not cooperating

As per the police officials, the self-styled godman is not cooperating in the investigation and has been lying continously during interrogation. He is answering questions posed at him only when pressed with undeniable evidence. The baba is showing no signs of remorse for his actions, they added.

The 62-year-old is also accused of secretly installing cameras in the women's hostel.

He is also accused of being involved in several other fraudulent activities such as forging visiting cards and passports. The police have found two fake visiting cards from his possession that identified him as United Nations and BRICS ambassadors.

The allegations against Chaitanyananda surfaced when an alumnus reported to the management of the private institute he heads, accusing him of sexually harassing students. Subsequently, an email from an Air Force official highlighted complaints from several students, claiming he threatened them and sent offensive messages

At least 17 women students then recorded their statements with the police, accusing him of harassing post-graduate management diploma students with scholarship in the economically weaker sections (EWS) category.

Chaitanyananda had been absconding for nearly a month after the victims recorded their statements with the police. He was eventually caught two days ago from a hotel in Agra after being on the run for 50 days.
