Chhattisgarh police and security forces successfully eliminated the dreaded Naxal leader Hidma in a fierce encounter near the Andhra Pradesh border. Along with Hidma, six other Naxals, including his wife Raje and top commander Shankar, were killed.
Tri-State Border Area Sees Major Naxal Crackdown
Raipur: Significant news has emerged from Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. State police and security forces killed the dreaded Naxalite Hidma during a special operation. Hidma's wife, Raje, was also reportedly killed during the encounter. Six Naxalites were killed in the encounter, including DKSGC member Shankar.
The encounter took place in the Maredumilli area of the Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh border. Heavy firing occurred between the two sides between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday. Security forces conducted a search operation and took action against the Naxalites. Six Naxalites were killed, including a top commander like Hidma.
Combing operations by security forces are ongoing at the site. Searches have been intensified in the dense forests. Greyhounds from Andhra Pradesh are also participating in the operation. The operation was intensified following information about a recent increase in Maoist activity in the Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border areas.
State DGP Harish Kumar Gupta maintained a close watch on the situation and directed the operation to continue. He stated that this encounter has dealt a major blow to the Naxalites and that security forces are maintaining vigilance.
The killing of Hidma and the deaths of six other Naxalites not only demonstrate the readiness of the security forces but also mark an important step towards restoring peace in the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh.
