Patna: The Patna High Court has sought a response from the Bihar government on a petition filed by noted educator Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, seeking the quashing of an FIR registered against him. The court has directed the state government to file its reply within four weeks.

A vacation bench of Justice Chandrashekhar Jha heard the matter and granted the Bihar government four weeks to present its stand. The petition challenges the FIR registered at Kadamkuan Police Station and seeks its cancellation.

Incident Linked to Clash Near Coaching Institute

According to the police, the case stems from an alleged incident on June 2, when a clash reportedly took place near Khan Sir's coaching institute in Patna. During the altercation, his security guard allegedly fired a gunshot, prompting the police to register the case and initiate an investigation.

Petition Calls FIR Misuse of Law

During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel argued that the FIR was an abuse of the legal process and requested the court to quash the case. The High Court, however, sought a detailed response from the state before taking a final view on the matter.

Interim Protection From Arrest Continues

Notably, a Patna civil court had earlier granted interim protection to Khan Sir, restraining authorities from arresting him in connection with the case. The relief remains in force for now.

The High Court has scheduled the next hearing after four weeks, by which time the Bihar government is expected to submit its reply. The case continues to draw attention due to Khan Sir's popularity among students across the country.
