UP STF arrests two for duping police constable aspirants (Img Internet)
Lucknow: In a major crackdown on examination-related fraud, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two individuals accused of running a racket that allegedly duped candidates appearing for the UP Police Constable Recruitment Examination 2025. The accused are suspected of promising aspirants selection through unfair means in exchange for large sums of money.
The STF identified the main accused as Raju Kumar Manjhi, a resident of Bihar currently living in Prayagraj, and his associate Chhote Lal Yadav from Jaunpur district. Both were apprehended from the Mungra Badshahpur area of Jaunpur during a targeted operation.

During the raid, STF officials recovered several incriminating materials, including photocopies of 21 admit cards, two mobile phones, copies of three cheques, three Aadhaar cards, four educational mark sheets, and records of 13 WhatsApp conversations. Investigators believe these materials were being used to facilitate the alleged cheating network.
Officials said the digital evidence recovered from the suspects’ devices is being examined to identify other members of the racket and potential beneficiaries.
According to STF sources, the accused allegedly approached candidates preparing for police recruitment and other competitive examinations, claiming they could arrange cheating facilities or guarantee selection. In return, aspirants were reportedly asked to pay hefty amounts.
Investigators revealed that the gang collected admit cards and personal documents from candidates before coordinating their operations. Authorities suspect the fraud network may have targeted multiple recruitment examinations beyond the police constable test.

STF officials noted that Raju Kumar Manjhi has a history of involvement in similar cases. He was previously arrested in 2022 in connection with a job fraud case registered in Prayagraj.
A case has been registered against both accused at Mungra Badshahpur police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to cheating. Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the network and identify additional suspects.
The arrests come as authorities intensify efforts to curb examination malpractices and ensure transparency in recruitment processes across Uttar Pradesh.
