Varanasi: The Municipal Corporation of Varanasi has taken a crucial step towards relocating all meat and fish shops currently operating within the city limits to areas outside the city boundaries. This proposal received formal approval during a Municipal Corporation House meeting held at Town Hall, and the implementation process is now expected to accelerate.

Meat and Fish Markets to Move Outside the City

According to the plan prepared by the Municipal Corporation, specialized meat and fish markets equipped with modern amenities will be developed outside the city limits. Shops currently operating in various parts of the city will be relocated to these new markets. In the initial phase, areas such as Ramnagar, Sujabad, Ganeshpur, Awaleshpur, and Shivpur have been identified for this purpose.

Officials state that these markets will be developed systematically, with special emphasis on hygiene, parking, drainage, and other essential facilities. This initiative will also provide traders with a better working environment.

Municipal Commissioner Presents Detailed Blueprint

During the House meeting, the Municipal Commissioner presented a detailed outline of the proposal. He explained that the plan involves developing modern meat markets at various locations across the city's four directions. This move aims to bring shops—currently operating in an unplanned manner within the city—into an organized framework. The Municipal Corporation believes that implementing this plan will improve urban management and enhance civic amenities.

Positive Impact on Hygiene and Traffic Management

According to Municipal Corporation officials, meat and fish shops operating in densely populated areas often create hygiene-related challenges. Additionally, these shops contribute to increased traffic congestion in their vicinity. The new system will help maintain a cleaner environment in key areas of the city and significantly control traffic congestion issues.

The Municipal Corporation asserts that this step will prove pivotal for the city's overall development and improved urban management. New arrangements to be prepared for business owners as well

The Municipal Corporation states that this plan has been formulated with the interests of shopkeepers and business owners in mind. Efforts will be made to provide all necessary facilities for business operations in the new markets, ensuring that trade is not disrupted and that merchants benefit from a better working environment.

However, the feedback from merchants and local residents will also be crucial during the plan's implementation. Detailed guidelines regarding this matter may be issued in the near future.

It is worth noting that discussions regarding this proposal had been ongoing for some time. Following the House's approval, the Municipal Corporation will now proceed with the processes of land selection, infrastructure development, and the relocation of shops.
