Uttar Pradesh Court Sentences 10 in Ramgopal Mishra Murder Case, Main Accused Gets Death Penalty

Lucknow: The court has delivered its verdict in the sensational Ramgopal Mishra murder case in Bahraich. Ten people, including the main accused, Sarfaraz, have been convicted in this case of violence.

The court sentenced the main accused, Sarfaraz, to death, while the other nine convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment. In addition, all the convicts were fined one lakh rupees each. This verdict was pronounced by the court of the First Additional District Judge.

List of Convicts and Acquitted Accused

The ten people convicted by the court on Tuesday included Abdul Hamid and his three sons, along with six others. The convicts include Sarfaraz, Talib, Saif, Javed Khan, Zishan, Nankau, Shoaib, Maroof Ali, Khurshid, Afzal, and Shakeel.

Meanwhile, three accused, Shakeel Ahmed, Bablu Afzal alias Kallu, and Khurshid, were acquitted by the court.

Background of the Murder

This murder took place on October 13, 2024, during the Durga idol immersion ceremony. During the incident, Ramgopal Mishra was shot dead. Immediately after the incident, 13 people were arrested and sent to jail.

After completing the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against all the accused in the court of the Additional Sessions Judge on January 11, 2025. A total of 12 witnesses related to this case testified in court.

The judge reserved the verdict on November 21, 2025, and in December, pronounced the judgment, convicting ten accused and acquitting three.

The Painful Statement of the Deceased's Elder Brother

Before the verdict was announced, the elder brother of the deceased, Ramgopal Mishra, stated that when he learned that his younger brother was injured, he rushed to the spot, but he was attacked there.

He was beaten with sticks, rods, and sharp weapons, resulting in injuries to his head and hands and also affecting his eye. His vehicle was set on fire in front of him.

He also stated that he has not received any financial assistance to date, nor has anyone inquired about his well-being. According to him, the real culprits are still at large, and some have even been released.

In this case, the court has sent a clear message that the law is strict against all forms of violence and murder. Justice has been ensured by handing down harsh sentences to the guilty, while some accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence or other reasons.
