Acting swiftly, the STF arrested five members of the gang during a joint operation carried out in Lucknow and Gonda district.

According to the official STF statement, the arrests were made following credible information that the accused were operating fake websites and portals impersonating government services. These platforms were used to create counterfeit birth and death certificates for profit.

How the racket worked

The gang allegedly created fake websites resembling government portals such as dashboardcrs.in and cscprintpoint.com, hosted through YouStable and linked to Google, YouTube, and other online tools. Through these fraudulent sites, they produced forged birth and death certificates using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital editing techniques.

The gang reportedly generated over 1,40,000 fake birth certificates and 2,500 fake death certificates, charging individuals between ₹600 and ₹1,000 per certificate. Payments were funneled directly into bank accounts controlled by the accused.

Investigators revealed that Ravi Ojha played a key role in managing the online operations, with his brother Sonu Ojha assisting in data entry and technical setup. Yadav Balaji Pal, who claimed to be working in a local government office, was responsible for verifying and distributing the forged certificates.

The STF noted that Ravi Ojha had a prior criminal record, with a case already registered against him at Kotwali Nagar police station, Gonda, under IPC sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, and IT Act 66D.
