Tejashwi Yadav says Mahagathbandhan will scrap Waqf Law if elected
Katihar: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Tejashwi Yadav, the opposition Grand Alliance's chief ministerial candidate and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, made a major statement on the Waqf Act in Katihar on Sunday. Addressing an election rally, he said that if the Grand Alliance forms the government in Bihar, the Waqf (Amendment) Act passed by the central government will be thrown into the dustbin.
Tejashwi Yadav said in his speech, 'My father Lalu Prasad Yadav never compromised with communal forces. But Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has always stood with such forces. Today, the RSS and its allies are spreading hatred in Bihar. The BJP's real name should be 'Bharat Jalao Party.' He also said that if the Grand Alliance forms the government, the Waqf Act will be abolished.

Tejashwi Yadav said that the people of Bihar are tired of the 20-year-old Nitish Kumar regime. He accused the Chief Minister of being out of his senses and that corruption has spread to every department in the state. He said that the law and order situation has deteriorated.
Tejashwi also promised the development of the Seemanchal region (Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj, and Katihar). He said that the NDA government had not taken any concrete steps for this region. He assured that if his government is formed, the Seemanchal Development Authority will be formed.
Tejashwi Yadav said that if his government is formed, the old age pension will be increased to Rs 2,000 per month. He also alleged that the NDA government is copying his announcements.

Earlier on Saturday, RJD MLC Mohammad Qari Sohaib had said that if Tejashwi became Chief Minister, all bills, including the Waqf Bill, would be torn up. This statement sparked a political uproar. The opposition questioned how a Chief Minister could repeal a central law.
