Bhubaneswar: The frenzy of Prabhas' fans is once again in the news, but this time, the reason isn't enthusiasm, but carelessness. During a screening of the film "The Raja Saab" at a theater in Odisha, an incident occurred that raised serious questions about the safety of the audience. A viral video on social media showed a fire being set inside the theater in the name of celebration, narrowly averting a major disaster.

How did the fire start?

According to the video, some fans, celebrating Prabhas's return to theaters, began burning a large amount of confetti (colored paper). It's reported that approximately 25 kilograms of confetti were set ablaze at the Ashoka Theater in Odisha. The confetti spread in front of the screen ignited, causing panic. Fortunately, the fire was controlled before it could spread, otherwise, there could have been loss of life and property.

Release and Box Office Status

Prabhas's film "The Raja Saab" released on January 9. According to reports, the film grossed over ₹50 crore on its first day in India. However, audience response has been mixed. This film was supposed to be Prabhas's next big release after Kalki 2898 AD, and was long-awaited. The film is directed by Maruti.

Anger erupts on social media

As soon as the video of the incident went viral, fans on social media began criticizing this behavior. Many users called it a blatant disregard of safety rules. One user wrote, "This is not maturity. The theater is not your home; such actions endanger the lives of others." Another said, "If the fire had spread, a major accident could have occurred—this is not celebration, this is stupidity."

Safety vs. Obsession

Frenzy around film stars is nothing new—sometimes temples are built, sometimes tattoos, and sometimes unique processions are held. But experts and audiences say that celebrations should be limited. The use of fire or fireworks in enclosed spaces like theaters is not only illegal but also extremely dangerous.

Responsibility of Administration and Management

This incident has also raised questions about the role of theater management and local authorities. Strict security measures, monitoring entry, and strict enforcement of regulations—all of these need to be refocused so that entertainment does not become a risk to life.
