How has Tere Ishk Mein held its ground through the first week and can Dhanush and Kriti Sanon’s intense love drama sustain momentum at the box office with Dhurandhar now entering theatres and competition rising in week 2?
Tere Ishk Mein collected Rs 83.55 crore in its first week.
New Delhi: Dhanush and Kriti Sanon’s latest romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein has wrapped up its first week on a solid note. The film which blends toxic romance with intense emotional arcs has managed to hold well despite a crowded release calendar. By the end of Day Seven the film collected Rs 83.55 crore across India reflecting its strong audience pull and positive word of mouth in several regions.
The opening day collection was Rs 16 crore and the momentum continued into the weekend where footfall significantly increased. The film’s steady performance places it among the better week one earners for 2024 and reaffirms Dhanush’s hold in the Hindi belt.
The film’s biggest boost came over the weekend. On Saturday Tere Ishk Mein recorded an impressive Rs 17 crore showcasing growing audience interest. Sunday saw an even stronger turnout with numbers rising to Rs 18.75 crore marking the film’s best day yet.
Thursday which closed the first week brought in Rs 5.7 crore taking the total to Rs 83.55 crore. The stability during the weekdays suggests that the film has struck a chord with viewers who are drawn to its dark emotional tone and the compelling screen presence of the lead actors.
Trade experts have noted that the film is demonstrating long legs at the box office which indicates its ability to continue performing well beyond the first week.
Four More Shots Please! Season 4: When and where to watch ?
Tere Ishk Mein marks Dhanush’s third collaboration with filmmaker Anand L Rai following Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. Their earlier projects established a distinct style marked by intense love stories unconventional characters and high voltage emotions. This film continues that pattern and offers a narrative where love obsession and heartbreak collide.
Critics praised the lead pairing for bringing depth to characters named Shankar and Mukti. Their performances were seen as sincere and intense even as the story drew mixed reactions for being overly elaborate in parts.
Tere Ishk Mein Day 6 Collection: Dhanush, Kriti Sanon film crosses Rs 100 crore in less than 1 week
The Tamil dubbed version of Tere Ishk Mein has also gained traction across Tamil Nadu and parts of Karnataka. While the Hindi original leads the collections the Tamil edition benefited from Dhanush’s strong regional following particularly in urban centres like Chennai Coimbatore and Bengaluru. The dubbed version contributed meaningfully to the overall footfall especially during the weekend with niche audiences appreciating the emotional intensity and music driven narrative. Its steady occupancy indicates that the film has managed to bridge the linguistic gap more effectively than many recent Hindi films.
With Dhurandhar releasing this week Tere Ishk Mein now faces its first significant challenge. The second weekend will determine whether the film can continue its upward trajectory or sees a dip due to new competition. Trade analysts believe that if the Friday to Sunday trend remains stable the film could comfortably move toward the Rs 120 crore mark and potentially go higher depending on word of mouth.
If it holds ground through the second weekend the film may achieve one of the strongest lifetime totals for a Dhanush led Hindi project. Its weekday strength indicates durability but footfall during Week Two will ultimately shape its overall box office fate.
