New Delhi: Once again, cases of coronavirus are increasing rapidly across the country. For the last few weeks, cases of infection have increased in many countries of the world, and now its effect is being seen in India as well, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, while there were a total of 257 active patients in the country on May 22, this figure has increased to 3395 within 10 days. In the last 24 hours, 685 new cases have been reported, and four people have died.
Worrisome situation in Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi.
The effect of corona is more visible in some states of the country. Kerala currently has 1336 active cases, which is the highest in the country. At the same time, 467 patients are undergoing treatment in Maharashtra and 375 in Delhi. Experts believe that even though the variant spreading this time is less severe than before, its infection rate is high, due to which there is a possibility of more people getting affected.
Higher risk for elderly & sick
Health experts say that this time the corona variant can prove to be especially dangerous for those who are already suffering from any serious disease, such as diabetes, heart disease, or respiratory diseases. Also, elderly people above 65 years of age and pregnant women can also face serious symptoms after infection.
In the deaths recorded recently, it has been clearly seen that only people suffering from serious diseases were included in the dead. A 67-year-old man died in Maharashtra who had complaints of acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia, and diabetes. At the same time, a 21-year-old youth died who was suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis and later also developed a respiratory tract infection.
Prevention beats cure
Dr. Upendra Singh, a critical care specialist working in a private hospital in Pune, said that new mutations have been seen in the Omicron and its sub-variants spreading this time, due to which these viruses are spreading infection by dodging the immune system built in the body.
He said, "People who have strong immunity may not have serious symptoms, but they can become carriers of the virus and infect others." Dr. Singh especially emphasized that every person should follow the rules of prevention of infection, such as wearing masks, avoiding crowds, cleaning hands, and isolating when feeling sick.
Covid isn't over
Experts are constantly saying that even though the intensity of Corona is not the same as before, it is not completely over yet. Its changing profile and new mutations give it the power to emerge again and again. Therefore, it is important that people not be careless and keep following health advice from time to time.
