New Delhi: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 27 militants during a series of intelligence-driven operations in North Waziristan district, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operations were carried out over the past 72 hours in the Miranshah area following specific intelligence inputs about militant presence. Officials described the raids as targeted actions aimed at dismantling active networks operating in the region.
According to the military statement, security forces conducted multiple coordinated raids at identified locations where militants were suspected to be hiding. During the operations, armed encounters took place between troops and suspected militants, resulting in the killing of 27 individuals. Authorities also recovered weapons and ammunition believed to have been used in militant activities in the region.
ISPR said that significant quantities of arms and ammunition were seized during the raids. These materials, according to officials, were being used by militant groups for planning and executing attacks against security forces and civilians. The recovery is being assessed as part of ongoing investigations into militant supply and operational networks in the area.
North Waziristan, located in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province along the border with Afghanistan, has long been a focal point of counterterrorism operations. Over the years, the region has witnessed repeated military campaigns aimed at eliminating militant hideouts and preventing cross-border attacks. Security officials noted that despite earlier operations, militant activity continues to emerge intermittently in several parts of the province.
The Pakistani military stated that clearance and intelligence-based operations will continue in North Waziristan to ensure long-term stability and prevent future attacks. Officials added that security forces remain committed to dismantling remaining militant infrastructure in the region.
In recent weeks, similar operations have been conducted in adjoining areas as part of a broader counterterrorism strategy. Authorities maintain that while progress has been made, militant groups still pose a security challenge, requiring sustained operations and intelligence monitoring across border districts.
