India urges citizens to leave Iran as tensions escalate in Tehran
New Delhi: The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued advisory to Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country as protests intensify in Tehran over US-Iran tensions over the nuclear programme.
The advisory was issued on 23 February. The Embassy has advised all Indians in Iran, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists to leave at the earliest.
The Indian Mission took to social platform X and wrote, “In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, business persons and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights.”
The advisory follows earlier guidance released on 5 January 2026.
