India men win first World compound archery gold
New Delhi: The Indian men's compound archery team has created history. The Indian team defeated France in the World Championship on Sunday and won the gold medal in this tournament for the first time. The trio of Rishabh Yadav, Aman Saini and Prathamesh Fuge performed brilliantly and defeated France by a margin of 235-233 in the title match. India had also registered impressive victories over Australia, USA and Turkey before the final.
Jyoti-Rishabh's mixed team got silver medal
Earlier, the mixed team pair of Jyoti Surekha Vennam and Rishabh Yadav had to settle for the silver medal after losing 155-157 against the Netherlands in the final. But 23-year-old Rishabh then won the men's compound team title along with Saini and Prathamesh. The score was tied at 176-176 after the third set, but the second seeded Indian team scored 59 points in the deciding round while France could only score 57 points. Thus India won the historic gold medal.
