Modi-Jinping Meet: India and China agree to maintain border peace and tackle terror together

This meeting was the second meeting of the two leaders in less than a year. Earlier in the meeting held in Kazan in October 2024, there was also a concrete discussion to take bilateral relations forward.

New Delhi/Beijing: In the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, important issues like border dispute, trust building and terrorism were discussed. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the talks between the two leaders were cordial and there was an agreement not to turn mutual differences into disputes.

According to Misri, PM Modi and President Jinping emphasized that peace and stability on the border is the cornerstone of the relations between the two countries. They also communicated on regional and global issues and expressed a shared commitment to fight terrorism.

During the talks, it was also agreed that it is necessary to enhance mutual trust and strengthen cooperation on the basis of mutual respect. The two leaders also agreed that the existing differences should not be allowed to turn into confrontation, but should move towards a solution in a spirit of cooperation.

In the press conference, the Foreign Secretary said that PM Modi invited President Jinping to the BRICS conference to be held in India in 2026. On this, Jinping thanked the Prime Minister and assured full support to India's presidency.

Important Meeting With Russian President

The Foreign Secretary further said that PM Modi will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. Apart from this, the PM will also address the plenary session of the SCO summit, where he will present India's policy of regional cooperation. After this the PM will leave for India.
