Excitement among students of Indian international schools
Students at Indian international schools in Ethiopia have been enthusiastic about PM Modi's visit. Speaking to news agency ANI, the school's principal, Abraham, said, "We are following the Indian curriculum and textbooks. This year, our school has also received CBSE accreditation. Most Ethiopian parents here attach great importance to their children's education."
Members of the Indian community have also expressed their happiness over PM Modi's visit. Ramendra Shah stated that cooperation between India and Ethiopia has significantly improved healthcare. Medical facilities here have improved significantly. Many hospitals are conducting research with Indian hospitals. Mahatma Gandhi Hospital is also working on a plan to expand its facilities by 400 beds. Shah also expressed hope that this visit will increase the support of Indian donors.
What PM Modi said about his Ethiopia visit
Prime Minister Modi, before departing India, also spoke about the significance of his visit. He said, "This is my first time visiting the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia." He added that Addis Ababa is also the headquarters of the African Union. During India's G20 presidency in 2023, the African Union will be made a permanent member of the G20. In Addis Ababa, I will have detailed discussions with Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali and will also have the opportunity to meet the Indian community there.
Prime Minister Modi also reviewed his recent visit. He said that the results of his visit to Jordan were significant and will strengthen India-Jordan relations. He described cooperation in renewable energy, digital innovation, and water resources management as steps towards shared responsibility and sustainable development.
