With this stern and controversial statement, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has once again adopted a sharp stance against the United States. His remarks come at a time when tensions between Iran and the United States are at their peak.
Khamenei clearly stated that Iran regards its nuclear and missile capabilities as “national assets” and will not compromise on them under any circumstances. He characterized this issue as being inextricably linked to the country’s security and identity.
In his statement, taking direct aim at the United States, he asserted that "The only place Americans belong to in the Persian Gulf is at the bottom of its waters." He further claimed that the U.S. and its allies have faced “defeat” in this region.
At the center of this entire dispute lies the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes. The presence of the U.S. Navy in this area, coupled with an alleged blockade, has further exacerbated the situation.
U.S. President Donald Trump has also signaled that pressure will persist until a nuclear agreement is reached with Iran. Consequently, the confrontation between the two nations appears to be intensifying.
This tension has also impacted the global oil market. Crude oil prices have surged rapidly, climbing above $120 per barrel, thereby increasing volatility in the international market.
Mojtaba Khamenei’s statement has made it clear that Iran remains steadfast in its position, and a de-escalation of the conflict with the United States does not appear imminent. In the days ahead, this situation could have a significant impact on both global politics and the economy.
