Ukraine launches big attack on Russian airfields
Moscow/Kiev: Ukraine on Sunday carried out drone attacks targeting multiple airfields in Russia .
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attacks were repelled in the regions of Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur. In the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions, drones launched from areas near the airfields caused several aircraft to catch fire.
41 Aircrafts Destroyed
Ukraine carried out a major drone attack on a Russian airbase, causing heavy losses to Russia. In this attack, Ukraine destroyed 41 Russian aircraft, many of which were important bomber aircraft. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has described it as the biggest attack on Russia so far. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described it as the longest-range operation of his army.
Ukraine carried out this attack under "Operation Spider Web". This operation was planned about one and a half years ago. Under this, Ukraine used 117 drones, which attacked military airports located inside Russia. Ukraine claims that Russia has suffered a loss of about $ 7 billion due to this attack.
New Method Of Attack
The strategy of this operation was very special. Ukraine adopted a new method to attack the targeted airbase in Russia. Under this, drones filled with explosives were smuggled into Russia by hiding them in a wooden structure. These wooden structures were loaded onto trucks and sent to the airbase. When the trucks arrived near the airbase, the roofs of the wooden structures were opened and the drones took off, beginning the attack.
According to Ukrainian security sources, an operations center was specially set up near the headquarters of the FSB (Security Service of Russia) to conduct this operation. This operation was a major setback for Russia, as Ukraine demonstrated its military capabilities and breached Russia's security.
Targeted Planes
Ukraine's drone attack destroyed several major Russian aircraft, including Russia's nuclear-capable Tu-95, Tu-22 bombers and A-50 aircraft. These aircraft were being used to bomb the land of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry admitted that Ukraine's drone attacks targeted Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur airbases.
This attack by Ukraine is being compared to the Pearl Harbor attack of 1941. In 1941, Japan launched a surprise air attack on America and destroyed the Pearl Harbor naval base. 2,403 American soldiers were killed in this attack, and it is considered the reason for America's entry into World War II. This drone attack by Ukraine has also proved to be a big and unexpected blow to Russia in the same way.
