Washington: Amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, Donald Trump has taken a major diplomatic step, extending the deadline for a potential attack on Iran's energy installations to April 6. This decision comes at a time when negotiations between the US and Iran are ongoing and the situation remains extremely sensitive.

Opportunity for talks, military action postponed for now

In his statement, Trump stated that this decision was made at Iran's request and that talks between the two countries are progressing in a positive direction. Previously, the US had given Iran a 48-hour ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers, otherwise severe military action would be taken. However, the deadline has now been extended twice, clearly indicating that the US is prioritizing negotiations.

Iran's strict conditions, tensions persist

On the other hand, Iran has also put forward its own strict conditions during the talks. The Iranian side has demanded that the US and Israel cease attacks against it and its allies. There is also talk of compensating for war losses and recognizing Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Experts believe these conditions could complicate the path to an agreement.

Diplomacy and Pressure Strategy

US envoy Steve Witkoff stated that a 15-point proposal for talks with Iran has been submitted, and some positive signals have been received. However, Trump's stance remains firm. He warned that Iran could face serious consequences if an agreement is not reached. He also hinted that the US may adopt a strategy to control Iran's oil resources.

Concern Grows in Israel

Meanwhile, Yair Lapid questioned the government, saying that the military is being overburdened and fighting on multiple fronts without a concrete strategy. He warned that the situation could worsen.

Situation on Ground Remains Tense

The situation in Iran remains extremely serious. A series of airstrikes reportedly killed Alireza Tangsiri, a senior commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guard. Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks in the Gulf region, creating a climate of instability and fear throughout the region.
