Discussion of the Israel-Iran war and Brahmos missile: Understand this complex scenario in depth on Dynamite News.
Can Israel destroy Iran's underground deep bunker fordow through brahmos`
New Delhi: The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has now reached its peak. Israel has carried out fierce attacks on Iran under Operation Rising Lion, in which many top military officials and nuclear scientists have been killed, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
At the same time, Iran has also retaliated, but Israel's action is being described as more aggressive and extensive. And at present, Israel seems to be more powerful than Iran.
Israel has targeted several nuclear bases, including Iran's Natanz. However, the Fordo nuclear enrichment center, which is located at a depth of about 500 meters inside a mountain, still remains out of the reach of Israeli weapons.
According to reports, Israel does not yet have weapons that can strike at such a depth. This has raised the question of whether Israel may now need technology like India's BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
BrahMos missile: Powerful but limited
Brahmos is counted among the world's fastest supersonic missiles. It has a speed of Mach 3 (three times the speed of sound) and can hit targets accurately up to 400 km. The missile can carry about 1000 kg of explosives and can be launched from land, sea, air, and submarines. The "fire and forget" technology makes it extremely accurate.
However, its current version is not enough to destroy deep underground bunkers. But the BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) version can be developed with such capabilities that it can target bunkers like Fordow.
Fordow Center: Iran’s best-protected underground nuclear site
Fordow Center: Impenetrable Nuclear Base
Fordow is considered to be Iran's most secure nuclear center, where 60% enriched uranium is stored. Its underground location makes it safe from conventional bombs. Israel does not have the US GBU-57A/B MOP bunker-buster bomb, which can penetrate concrete about 60 meters thick. Because of this, damaging Fordow remains a technical challenge for Israel.
Does Israel need a missile like BrahMos?
Experts believe that Israel needs new strategies and technical cooperation to target targets like Fordow. Missiles like Brahmos can be a solution for this, but for this, a technical partnership with India or the development of domestic missiles of a similar level will be required.
Cooperation from America or a new path?
One option that Israel has is to ask the US for weapons like the GBU-57. But given America's current foreign policy and its position on the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), this does not seem so easy.
Iran's response and geopolitical impact
Iran has claimed that Fordow is completely safe, but Israel's recent attacks have put it in worry. If Israel uses a missile like Brahmos, then Iran will also try to strengthen its defense system further, which can increase regional tension and instability. The reactions of China and Russia will also be important, as both these countries are close allies of Iran.
India's diplomatic challenge
This situation is very sensitive for India. On one hand, it has energy trade relations with Iran; on the other hand, it has defense and technical cooperation with Israel. In such a situation, India will have to proceed with balance and caution on this entire issue.
