Cloudbursts and landslides cause life to be in disarray
Kathua: A cloudburst and landslides struck the Kathua district early on Sunday morning resulting in significant damage and deaths. Two different incidents in the Jodh Valley villages Rajbagh and Janglot areas resulted in seven deaths and five injuries.
After a lot of rain over night the catastrophe happened. In order to oversee the rescue and relief efforts District Development Commissioner Rajesh Sharma traveled to the impacted area with senior law enforcement and administrative officials. Five people were killed in Jodh Valley by the cloudburst officials said and the road to the village was closed and several homes were damaged.
Two people lost their lives as a result of landslides brought on by the intense rain in the Janglot area. Five injured Jodh Valley residents have been transported to the hospital.
Local volunteers the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the police are collaborating on the rescue mission. Additionally there were reports of landslides in the Dilwan-Hutli area of the Lakhanpur police station and the Bagad and Changda villages of the Kathua police station area. According to authorities most reservoirs water levels rose quickly as a result of the heavy rain. The Ujh River flows close to the danger zone.

In addition the Chief Minister wished the injured a quick recovery and offered condolences to the victims families. He promised to help the impacted families in every way he could. The army paramilitary groups and civil administration are prepared to carry out rescue and relief operations in Kathua according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
He got in touch with SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena for updates after learning about the cloudburst in the Janglot region. The deaths in several areas of Kathua due to landslides and heavy rain were deeply regretted by the Lieutenant Governors office.
