The Police has arrested all three accused
Amaravati: Three YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members were arrested for allegedly beheading a goat in front of a banner of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in East Chodavaram village of West Godavari district, according to police. The workers were reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The Police has arrested the three accused – Kattula Ramesh, Putta Naveen, and Konda Battula Sai. After the arrest the Police paraded them on the main road.
The incident occurred on Friday night. The act, allegedly part of the Gangamma Jatara celebrations on the occasion of Jagan Mohan Reddy's birthday, has drawn strong condemnation.
According to the police, the YSRCP workers allegedly performed an animal sacrifice. They erected flex banners and chanted "Rappa Rappa" slogans during the Gangamma Jatara, which coincided with former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's birthday.
A police picket has been established to prevent any further disturbances after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The Inspector of Nallajerla Police Station said, "The arrests were made after the YSRCP workers allegedly performed an animal sacrifice and erected flex banners while chanting 'Rappa Rappa' slogans during the Gangamma Jatara."
